Okay, My Last What’s-Meetup-All-About Post

So, as long as been the organizer for the Indy Beer Meetup for the past six months I’ve been chewing on the validity of the Meetup platform, what it means from a marketing sense, name recognition and all of that other not-so-interesting-to-talk-about-when-you’re-drinking-beer stuff.

I’ve thought about moving away from Meetup.com and promoting the same beer events through another channel, but lately I’ve decided the power of what Meetup is.

Meetup.com is a worldwide-recognized social media brand that brings people with similar interests together in the real world. Folks join the Indy Beer Meetup simply because they were members of a similar Meetup in another city. It has some strong staying power. Those folks over at Meetup.com who create and support the websites regularly bring new and unique features to the groups hosted on Meetup.com; it’s nice to have their support as part of the product.

If you desire to use other platforms to promote your group, it’s already built into Meetup.com. You can promote simply to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, even create signage, business cards and nametags right from within your group.

I’ll just say it again, if you are interested in putting together an enthusiasts group of your own in whatever city you are living in for whatever topic your crazy little heart desires, consider Meetup.com. It’s incredibly affordable and full of features to make your group an instant success.

‘Suds’oku from Monarch Beverage Company

An Indianapolis company has developed an iPhone application that combines a popular numbers-based game with beer. Monarch Beverage Co. says it has developed Sudsoku, which is based on the popular Sudoku, but instead of numbers the game involves bottle caps of some of the world’s most popular beers.

HBG4 Was a Roaring Success

Even though Hoosier Beer Geek is thanking everyone involved in their fourth anniversary party from last Saturday, I believe that the largest portion of thanks needs to go to them.

HBG brings better beer to the masses. Through the interviews, reviews, events, city beer tours and variety of other awesome content on their website, they’ve opened up the world of better beer to those who’s experience may have ended at Blue Moon.

Thanks to the Knights of the Beer Roundtable for the past four years of beer reporting excellence.

Taco Truck?! How About a Mobile Bar!?!
Looks like a battle is brewing in Amsterdam and Germany about pedal-powered pubs on the streets over there. Maybe Indianapolis could handle something like this since we love our mobile food already.
